I'd be remiss if I didn't highlight THE ultimate Hawaiian Reference Book, Hawaiian Dictionary : Hawaiian-English, English-Hawaiian by Mary Kawena Pukui, renown author and historian. Although there is a wonderful resurgence of our language and culture in the islands, many of those of my generation either hadn't grown up with the language or learned certain phrases haphazardly along the way. At any rate, this edition of the Hawaiian Dictionary is an invaluable resource for every Hawaiiana library.

Other resources available by or including Mary Kawena Pakui:
The Echo of Our Song: Chants and Poems of the Hawaiians Mary K. Pukui, Alfons L. Korn (Translator);
Hawaiian Dictionary : Hawaiian-English, English-Hawaiian Mary Ann Pukui, et al;
Nana I Ke Kumu Vol 1 and Nana I Ke Kumu Vol 2 Mary K.; Haertig, E. W. Pukui, Catharine A. Lee.
New Pocket Hawaiian Dictionary: With a Concise Grammar and Given Names in Hawaiian by Mary Kawena Pakui, Samuel H. Elbert, Mary Kawena Pukui, Yu Mapuana Nishizawa
