ALL of these ideas are less expensive and more fun to create than purchasing the items outright. You have the satisfaction of knowing YOU made it and saved money doing so. And many can be created very last minute. For some you need to plan ahead a little. Most of the accessories involved can be found at your local thrift shops, garage sales or even in your own home!

WITH YOUR PRINTER
COUPONS The ultimate gift. Once I received coupons from a friend who was going to school to be a massage therapist. The coupons were good for one year and gave the following: One foot massage, one neck massage, one back massage, one full body massage. Those were EXCELLENT! She was going to school, short on cash, but long on time and imagination. She used index cards and decorated them just darling! You could give coupons for just about anything at all. If you are not the kind of person who follows through, though, these aren't a great idea for you. Coupons for babysitting, running errands, weeding gardens, taking someone to an appointment, going to a movie, out to lunch, to the bookstore... the ideas are endless. Kids even love coupons! A day at the park, zoo, library, ocean, river, fishing, camping trip, shopping expedition, a movie, out to lunch, computer time, reading a book of their choice.... again it's endless, cheap, and FUN! If you own a computer, printer and laminator, you have a whole host of ideas. You can make homemade posters by finding a picture on the net (or using one of the paint/card programs, or if you also own a scanner, use a picture of your choice). You can make note card sized posters for refrigerators, dorm rooms, bathrooms, bedrooms. You can make name tags (even include a picture) of the person, with a poem you wrote or liked, or include the meaning of the person's name. There are great places on the net to find that for free. *chuckling and adding to Hailey's notes, "just be careful of copyrights"* You can make darling bookmarks with the laminator too! Laminate recipe cards, pictures, small posters, or magazine pictures you like (be sure to put plain paper on the reverse side). With your laminator you can make bookmarks out of anything at all, almost. So long as it is slim enough to go through the laminator, go for it! Use ribbon, wallpaper, photographs, hand drawn pictures the kids have done, fabric, yarn, use rubber stamps, markers, pen or pencil to design them. Leave a piece of ribbon or yarn hanging out and attach beads. I've had so much fun making homemade items with mine, and the ideas are limitless!
